Van Dalen Metals Recycling and Trading applies strict environmental and safety regulations. These regulations are designed to ensure the safety and health of everyone involved in the recycling process as well as to guarantee the transportation of our products. These regulations have direct effect on third parties such as visitors and transporters. They too should respect our regulations in order to safeguard not only ours, but their own safety and health.
Van Dalen has an inspection and acceptance policy, which is laid in rules and procedures within our management system. In addition, our general conditions are registered at the Chamber of Commerce (see pdf-file under the section “General Terms and Conditions”).
The inspection-acceptance policy, has the following aim:
◦ To ensure that the quality of the supplied material, where necessary, is correct.
◦ To ensure the optimal functioning of the machines and operating equipment.
◦ To deliver a contribution to the health and safety of our employees and third parties.
◦ Compliance with laws and regulations.
All our locations are equipped with modern radiation detection systems which are fixed to our weighbridges and installed for the measurement of elevated radiation of incoming ferrous and non ferrous materials. If unexpectedly increased radiation is detected, our sites also have special hand-held detectors to determine the impact of radiation on the human body. Dependent upon this measurement and in agreement with the attendance officer (radiation monitoring) the solution is determined. Incoming steel (scrap) which is delivered by ship is checked for elevated radioactivity through integrated advanced equipment built in a grab, measuring the material at each bite of the grab. We stress that, in case of observation of any increased radiation, we act in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
